Ella Storms to 2nd at Warden Law British KZ2 Championship Opener

Jade Racing Driver Ella Stevens took P2 at the opening round of the 2025 Wera Tools British KZ2 Championship – missing out on victory by just 0.09s at the flag.

Warden Law Kart Circuit in Sunderland hosted the first round of the 2025 British Kart Championship season for the KZ2 class.

Fresh off a podium in the opening round of the KZ2 Super 4 National Championship at the Three Sisters Valley Circuit, Ella hit the ground running by setting the unofficial lap record in Pre-Qualifying Practice – before heading into the first qualifying session of the season.

Unfortunately, Ella was blighted by traffic throughout the session – disguising her true pace as she ended up P6 overall on the grid for the Heats on Sunday.

Heat 1 was almost a disaster! As a kart infront of her failed to get away, meaning Ella would fall to P10 at the end of the opening lap after taking avoiding action.
Nevertheless as the 10-minute heat went on, she made her way through the pack – finishing in P5, narrowly missing out on a Top 4 finish.

Heat 2 saw Ella initially lose a couple of positions at the start after avoiding more karts infront of her off the line. Despite this, she bided her time once again as the race went on – capitalising on some contact ahead to move herself up back up to P6 at the chequered flag.
This meant she would be in a three-way tie for P3 on the grid for the Final, with Ella securing this due to a superior qualifying position to her two other rivals.

The 15-minute final saw Ella make a great start and maintain P3, keeping herself in the hunt from the victory from the off!
After laps of applying constant pressure, she managed to move herself into P2 on Lap 11 – before setting her sights on the leader.

Ella would get her head down to close down a 0.5s gap -in just 2 laps. Latching onto the leader into the closing stages of the race.
As the two leaders broke away from the pack, Ella kept the relentless pressure on – but just narrowly missed out on victory by a mere 0.09s at the chequered flag!

After a strong comeback from her qualifying misfortune, Ella leaves the opening round of the Wera Tools British KZ2 Championship with some silverware and a P3 overall in the Championship Standings on 122 points.

The next round of the championship will take place at Dunkeswell Raceway in Devon, on the 9th-11th May in just 3 weeks’ time.
